  1. All the things i've learned from a resume is that you have to put all of your experiences in your whole lifetime, recent jobs, most of your accomplishments, and your skills that you're good at doing. The purpose of a resume is to get an interview to where you want to work. If you have all the requirements for a job, they would give you the job. But if you don't "have what it takes" they wouldn't give you the job.

  2. For this project I was in group 1. We had to do a power point on resumes and how they work, what they are for and what they will look like. A few things I learned from this project was that a resume can be the one thing separating you from other people trying to get the same job as you. In an economy like it is today, you need to be set apart from the normal and show you aspects. Your resumes should be simple and easy to under stand; while also being detailed and all honest. Something most people also don't know is that you should always send a thank you letter or email after seeing your future employer and giving them your resume.

    1. I was in your group too! I also learned similar things. It is so important to keep your resume clean and easy to understand. A lot of people do not like being honest on their resume but that can come back and haunt them later on in their career.

    2. Out of the projects I felt yours was the best and held the most valuable information. Although I already made my résumé, there was some things I didn't have in mine. I learned a lot from your research.

  3. As a member of group one, I researched how to create a formal paper resume. I learned everything from what they should look like, to what they are designed to do. Resumes are documents that tell your employer everything they need to know, they list your accomplishments and education as well as your experience. A resume is basically an overview of who you are in the work force, you should always add important information without bragging about yourself. Keeping it clear and neat without floral patterns and decorative fonts is an important key. Instead add important accomplishments that set you apart from the other applicants out there.

    2. I agree with many things you said, all the things in your resume tell employers who you are. You and your group had one of the best presentations and I learned a lot from it.

    3. I can relate to this because, yes, a resume is really to tell the employer about yourself and what you can do. Just don't put it as you are bragging about yourself because then it doesn't really get your anywhere sometimes.

  4. I took part in group two, in this category, we were to create a presentation on how to write a cover letter. While researching I learned that a cover letter is really an important part in trying to find jobs, land an interview, and all in all show the employer you fit the job expectations. There are three different types of a cover letter, such as, application, networking, and many more. A cover letter should really only be a page long. You need to show the employer you are interested in a job, how you will be a worker, and all of your experience in the work field. You sum up a cover letter, letting the employer know how to contact you for a meet and greet, or for any questions. A cover letter all in all is a great way for you to open up different opportunities in the work field.

    2. Hearing what you had to say about cover letters really informed me. I had no idea or clue on cover letters till you said how they are more of a way to show what you are going to do for the company, unlike a resume where your sharing everything about yourself to the company. Very well put and done.

  6. Hi. I was in group number one. We researched "How to create a formal paper resume". I learned how they should be setup and how to make it look clean and acceptable. A resume is very important because it shows your personality on a piece of paper. It has to look like your personality. It also should show how you are different from the other few who may be applying for the same job. Making the paper an off white can separate you from the other applicants and also your special accomplishments. One thing on your resume can either make or break your chances or getting your dream job. Keep it classy :P

    1. The more I grow the more I realize how resumes are just your personality on paper. When I was younger I couldn't really grasp the concept, and thought resumes were just work experience. Now I'm realizing it's just what you've formally done throughout your life as well as academic achievements.

  7. My group did the history of resumes. Though they haven't changed much from the late 1900s to now, they changed a lot from the earlier days. They were first used for giving an introduction to a persons life. Vitaes were used first, then came just scrap pieces of paper, and VHS recording. Now we have a certain model and layout, which include, work history, volunteer work, hobbies, talents, and so on.

  8. I was in group number two, and we researched how to write a cover letter. I learned that a cover letter introduces you, and does not simply summarize your resume. Also, that there are three types of cover letters; the most common cover letter is an application cover letter. When writing your cover letter, you really want to stand out and be noticed, so they remember you. The information that enlightened me the most was the idea to thank the employer at the end of your letter. This is such a simple idea, that sometimes it may be overlooked.

  9. I was in group 4, our project was to research how to write a resume. We learned that there are a few different categories you need to take into consideration when writing a resume. The header is an important factor because it shows the employer how to contact you. You should include full name, address, phone number, and email. Other things you should include are Job history or volunteer work, education history, activities, and skills. At the end you should make sure to add "References available upon request." Job Resumes are important because it symbolizes you and what you have done in your life.

  10. My group did the presentation on history of resumes. Resumes have changed in the last 500 years. Although its role has remained the same. The purpose of a resume is to show your skills, get an interview, and get the job. The fact that the resume is still only one formatted paper, its still a list of bullet points. The resume has gone from a handwritten letter written in 1500, to resumes today that contain social media links. It has, however, not become more useful in getting a job. The first resume was written by Leonardo da Vinci. A resume has changed its requirements over time.

  11. The group I was in, group 6, did the history of resumes. I've learned that resumes are a relatively new thing carried through to the Americas as a trend during the era of colonization. Even then, they were just formalities until the middle of the 20th century.
